Slime and slime fight, experiment #5

6 Mar

Today we made slime, it was pretty awesome. After making the slime we had a slime fight out in the cul-de-sac and even sacked the camera man. This was a pretty simple experiment that included Borax, water, glue and food coloring. Ella really enjoyed this one.

Diet Coke Mentos Geyser, experiment #2

5 Feb

This week Ella wanted to blow something up.  So, Michelle suggested the Diet Coke-Mentos experiment.  After watching a few videos and doing a little research Ella and I went shopping and got the supplies we would need to pull this off.  The result was pure awesomeness.  We had a blast and learned about chemical reactions along the way.

Things you need:

4 Diet Coke 2 liter bottles

4 tubes Mentos

*1 test tube (or 4 if you want to do them all at once)

*As an alternative you can use a piece of paper rolled into the shape of a tube.

Gooey Gunk, experiment #1

4 Feb

Last weekend Ella came home and wanted to do an experiment.  After digging around looking for something Michelle remembered that she had a book of experiments for elementary kids.  So we settled on Gooey Gunk which transforms a mixture to a solid state and back to liquid depending if pressure is applied. When squeezed you get a solid and when no pressure is applied you get a liquid.

Video Part 2:

This fun experiment takes the following:

3/4 cup corn starch

1/3 cup water

Food coloring of choice

Gooey Gunk
